sales, marketing and manufacturing functions in the digital video,
display, consumer electronics, and PC markets with startups, private
acquisitions, and public corporations at all levels of management.
Alan
McCann, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. McCann
is a seasoned senior-level executive who has been involved in the
management of organizations pioneering new technologies for more
than 18 years. He has led new business initiatives in multiple organizations
where technology was a change agent in digital media including on-demand
printing, consumer electronics (DVD, HDTV, Streaming Video), and
computer gaming (3D PC and Console games). Mr. McCann was most recently
Sr. VP and GM of Marketing at Phoenix Technologies Ltd. Prior to
joining Phoenix, he was VP & GM of Ravisent Technologies where
he sold its core consumer electronics business to ST Microelectronics.
Mr. McCann earlier held various executive and marketing management
positions at ATI Technologies Inc., QMS Inc, Xerox Canada Inc. and
IBM Canada Inc. He earned a BASc in Computer Engineering from the
University of Waterloo, Canada and an MBA from York University,
Canada.
Albert
Lam, Chief Technology Officer
Albert Lam
has over 25 years of experience in the areas of VLSI testing, IC-CAD,
field-programmable system emulation, Internet appliance and digital
media compression and transmission. Since 1977, Mr. Lam has held
numerous senior technical management positions at Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, Cadence Design Systems, Aptix Corporation, Optivision
Corporation, and FutureTel, Inc. Since 2000, he held the position
Senior VP of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer at Ravisent
Technologies, Inc., Phoenix Technologies, Inc. and The Right Bits,
Inc., specializing in the development of highly efficient audio
and video codec technologies, Internet appliances and set top boxes,
and digital media recording and streaming products. Mr. Lam studied
the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at the University of California,
Los Angeles, and received a MSEE from the University of Southern
California, a BSEE from the California Institute of Technology and
a bachelor degree in Physics from Occidental College.
David
Brott, Vice President, Corporate Development
Mr. Brott
has over 10 years experience in Technical Sales and Technology Marketing.
Mr. Brott led strategic marketing and licensing efforts at emerging
technology companies such as Interactual and Ravisent Technologies.
While at Ravisent, he was Director of Business Development with
worldwide responsibility for technology licensing and business alliances
with companies such as Intel, AMD, ATI, ST Microelectronics, Dolby
Laboratories and others. Mr. Brott also held tactical communications
and mission planning roles as a member of Seal Team Three, United
States Navy. Mr. Brott received his BA from the University of California
at San Diego, with advanced coursework at Wharton Executive Education
and the Center For Creative Leadership.
Steve
Law, Executive Vice President, System Engineering and Manufacturing
Dr. Law
has over 26 years of engineering and management experience in hardware,
software and ASIC development. Over the past eight years, he held
Vice President positions at The Right Bits, Alaris Corporation and
Optivision with responsibilities ranging for ASIC and product development,
chip production, development of high-end video/audio encoding and
decoding systems and OEM sales. In 1990, Dr. Law co-founded and
served as COO of Aptix Corp., where he was responsible for the invention
and development of the FPIC programmable interconnect systems. From
1983 to 1990 he was a co-founder and R&D director at Cadence
Design Systems. Starting his career at Bell Labs, Dr. Law invented
the Gate Matrix approach to IC design and layout, co-invented Domino
CMOS logic, and contributed to the design of the first 32-bit CMOS
microprocessors. In 2000, he received the prestigious IEEE Solid-State
Circuits Award for IC design innovations and their impacts to the
IC Design field. Dr. Law received a BS, MS, M Phil, and PhD all
in EE from Columbia University in New York.
Joe
Lam, Director of Hardware Engineering
Mr. Lam
brings a wealth of experience in hardware system design and ASIC
development for audio/video applications to DigitalStream. He was
a co-founder of Alaris Corporation where he was Vice President of
Operations. In this role, Mr. Lam had taken several novel consumer
audio/video products successfully from concept into production and
developed OEM business with Philips, SonicBlue, Compaq and Earthlink.
He also was involved in ASIC designs for hardware implementation
of video codec and worked with IBM and Nexgen to help bring their
proprietary processors to the market. Earlier he worked in hardware
system design at British Telecom, National Semiconductor and Everex
Systems. Mr. Lam holds a BSc (Hon) in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Ilya
Asnis, Director of Software Engineering
Mr. Asnis
has over 15 years of programming experience with particular expertise
in design, implementation and optimization of video compression
algorithms. His responsibilities include advancing XVD™ compression
technology and leading DigitalStream’s development project
teams in the US and Russia. Before joining DigitalStream, he was
a Senior Software Developer for Alaris Corporation where he was
responsible for development of proprietary audio and video compression
algorithms, Java multimedia broadcasting, Videoconferencing software,
DSP porting and performance optimization. Earlier Mr. Asnis was
project leader and software engineer at the State University of
Aerospace Instrumentation in St.-Petersburg, Russia where he developed
video compression, error-correcting codes and public-key cryptography.
Mr. Asnis has an MS in Computer Science from the State University
of Aerospace Instrumentation where he studied as a Ph.D candidate.
